The Belfry to make its mark at golf travel market

Iconic four-time Ryder Cup host venue, The Belfry, is exhibiting at the International Golf Travel Market in Portugal’s Algarve from the 12th – 15th November.

The comprehensive resort, home to the world-famous Brabazon Course and PGA Headquarters, returns to the golf travel industry’s premier trade event for the first time in 8 years.

The Belfry team will be on-hand at Stand 543 throughout the week to discuss The Belfry’s unique golf and leisure experiences, as well as the exciting vision of new owners, KSL Capital Partners LLC, and management company, De Vere.

“Exhibiting at the IGTM offers us a great opportunity to showcase the exciting developments that we have planned at The Belfry.

“With our rich Ryder Cup heritage and dedication to customer service, we have a great product, but the plans of the new owners will really raise the bar at The Belfry, and re-establish the resort as a truly outstanding golf and leisure resort for both domestic and international travellers,” noted The Belfry’s Director of Golf, Gary Silcock.

“The time is right to re-engage with the international golf travel market where we’re looking forward to discussing the future of one of golf’s most renowned venues, as well as the wider tourism attractions of Birmingham, England’s ‘Second City’.”

Steeped in history, The Belfry is also one of Europe’s most comprehensive golf & leisure venues, effortlessly combining modern comfort with a superb range of facilities.

Set amongst 550 acres of stunning English countryside, The Belfry currently comprises a 324-bedroom hotel and three 18-hole golf courses, including The PGA National, England’s only PGA-branded golf course, The Brabazon, the world’s only four-time host of The Ryder Cup having held the tournament in 1985, 1989, 1993 and 2001, plus a further 18-hole golf course, known as The Derby.

The home of England’s only PGA National Golf Academy is also at The Belfry, where over 20 PGA Qualified Golf Professionals offer an unrivalled level of service and knowledge to guests, and an expansive Pro Shop voted ‘The Best in the UK’ by Golf World magazine.

The Belfry also boasts swimming pools, a spa, gym, leisure club, several bars and delectable dining areas, as well as an array of other sporting facilities.

Its acquisition in August by an affiliate of KSL Capital Partners LLC, an American investment firm that specialises in travel and leisure businesses, means that the resort will undergo a comprehensive renovation to further its already impressive offering.

Underlining the owners’ undeniable commitment is the appointment of De Vere to manage the resort, a move that has earned the support of some of golf’s most influential individuals, including European Tour Chief Executive, George O’Grady, PGA Chief Executive, Sandy Jones, as well as Ryder Cup Winning Captains, Colin Montgomerie, Ian Woosnam and Bernard Gallacher.

De Vere offers championship golf at each of its twelve properties and nineteen golf courses around the UK, with the hosting of several high-profile professional events highlighted by the ISPS Handa PGA Seniors Championship on the European Senior Tour at De Vere Slaley Hall in Northumberland and the European Tour Qualifying School at De Vere Wychwood Park, Cheshire.
