City Golf Team Head To Dominican Republic

A four-man team, playing for leading broking firm ICAP, will be heading off for a golf break to the Dominican Republic, courtesy of Barceló Hotels & Resorts, after winning the grand final of the 2012 Banks and Brokers Golf Championship that took place at the fabulous Stoke Park Club on Friday 14th September.

The City-based quartet won the financial services sector’s premier golfing title – sponsored by Giles Harwood Wealth Management – by a staggering seven points with a superb score of 86 Stableford Points.  The winning team comprised of Nick Stewart (ICAP), Robert Sully (BGC Partners), Gianni Munday and Peter Spaggs (Kyte Group).  

Runners-up on the day were Martyn Jones Financial Services with 79 Points and Tradition UK, the interdealer broking arm of Compagnie Financière Tradition finished third with 76 points.  Matt Emery (COS Group Ltd) collected the nearest the pin prize and Richard Joyce (Reckitt Benckiser Group) hit the longest drive on the day.

The winning captain, Nick Stewart, was delighted with his team’s victory on a windy day that made Stoke Park an even tougher proposition than normal.  He said: “It was a fantastic venue for the culmination of an excellent competition. We have enjoyed ourselves right from the start in this event – which has been organised so professionally – and to win the grand final was the icing on the cake for us.  We can’t wait to head off to the Dominican Republic”.

The winners’ prize includes five days and four nights all inclusive staying at the Barceló Bavaró Beach Resort Hotel in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.   The winners’ will enjoy four rounds of golf with buggies on the Lakes Barceló Golf Course. The runners-up also received a short weekend break to La Cala Resort in Spain kindly donated by www.golfingdevotee.com .
