GI also caught up with one of Bandon Dune’s course designers, Scot  David McLay Kidd, at another of his world famous designs, Machrihanish Dunes in Scotland. He used to play on the beach as a child, and tell his dad: “I want to build a golf course here.” Incredibly, years later, he did. We spent the day with Kidd to get his thoughts on modern design, the modern game, what he thinks about ‘celebrity’ designers… and when he feels the game’s governing bodies have done a disservice to golf.
