Now you can glide around on course aboard a Hovercraft

Whatever next? Long established American company Hammacher Schlemmer has introduced The Golf Cart Hovercraft – the ultimate in golf transport – that glides over sand traps and water hazards as easily as it does over fairways and rough.

Powered by a 65-hp twin-cylinder Hirth engine, its nine-blade axial-flow ducted fan propels The Golf Cart Hovercraft up to 45mph and 9ins off the ground without harming grass, allowing immediate crossing of a pond or lake to take the shot route to a cross-water shot.

“The Golf Cart Hovercraft speeds up an 18-hole outing while carrying four passengers beneath a lift-up roof and two golf bags in an open rear compartment,” explained Hammacher Schlemmer’s General Manager Fred Berns.

The fan’s streamlined design minimizes noise, speeds up an 18-hole outing, and conveys four passengers beneath a lift-up roof and two golf bags in an open rear compartment. Motorcycle-style handlebars steer the craft, controlling its patented fly-by-wire reverse thrust system, which provides braking and backwards hovering up to 25 mph – the only hovercraft in the world to do so.

Made from a fibre glass composite and urethane foam composite hull, The Golf Cart Hovercraft meets United States Coast Guard standards for reliable hovering over water.

Fancy one and being the centre of on-course attention? Well, The Golf Cart Hovercraft is available from Hammacher Schlemmer for a whopping $58,000.
