Meet Paul McGinley At Quinta Do Lago This Summer

Budding golf stars of the future are being given the opportunity of a lifetime and the chance to meet 2014 European Ryder Cup star Paul McGinley when they take part in a top junior event at Quinta do Lago in Portugal’s Algarve this summer.

The resort will host the Paul McGinley Junior Cup for the second year running on Friday July 26th, and he will be on hand in person to present the prizes to the winners.

Open to all juniors up to the age of 18, the 18-hole competition costs €44 to enter and will be played on Quinta do Lago’s Course – the most prestigious of the venue’s three championship layouts.

The course has been chosen to host the Portuguese Open on no fewer than eight occasions and was shortlisted for the Best Course in Portugal at the 2012 Portuguese Travel Awards.

McGinley is a leading supporter of junior golf at Quinta do Lago and the event is one of a number that it will stage for youngsters over the coming months.

A junior pro-am will take place at Quinta do Lago in August, while the UK’s top young golfers will head to the resort to compete in the final of the world’s largest junior golf event – the Telegraph BMW Junior Golf Championship – from October 9-11, when McGinley will also be present to greet the 21 finalists.

And golfers looking to combine one of the events with a golfing break can take advantage of some great packages this summer and autumn – with a three-night stay featuring 18 holes of golf on Quinta do Lago’s North and Laranjal courses available from €315 per person, including bed and breakfast accommodation at luxurious Monte da Quinta resort nearby.

McGinley, who has been visiting Quinta do Lago for the last 15 years, said: “It’s a great environment for kids. It’s safe and there’s plenty for them to do. Another big plus is the fact that we only have to spend two-and-a-half hours on a plane.”

Quinta do Lago has firmly established itself as one of the most highly regarded golf and residential developments in the Algarve since opening in 1972. Located just 15 minutes from Faro airport and sitting amongst 2,000 acres of the picturesque Ria Formosa Natural Park, the resort offers residents and guests an unparalleled location benefiting from a year-round temperate climate.
