Tony Jacklin recreates Ryder Cup moments

Three lucky Today’s Golfer readers recently had the chance to re-create several iconic Ryder Cup shots at the world-famous The Belfry under the watchful gaze of Ryder Cup legend and double major champion Tony Jacklin.

The trio of Derek Medley (15hcp), scratch player Henry Knight and 4-handicapper Mark Cumberbatch all had a crack at emulating Paul McGinley’s winning putt in 2002, Seve spectacularly driving the 10th green in 1985, Christy O’Connor’s 2-iron into the final green in 1989 and Philip Price’s miraculous second shot into the 6th green during his shock singles defeat of Phil Mickelson (2002).

With former Ryder Cup captain Jacklin on hand to offer much needed tips and advice, here’s how they fared on a memorable Belfry visit which saw the competition winners not only later tee it up with Tony on the Brabazon course but have dinner with him as well.

Here ‘Jacko’ takes you through the on-course action and the bid to re-create those legendary shots…
