All aboard the Nike Golf Matchplay bandwagon

The Accenture World Match Play Championship takes place in Arizona from Wednesday but you can take part in a special match play event of your own – and a lot closer to home – this season. And there’s some fantastic prizes on offer too….
The 2014 Nike Golf Matchplay Championship – one of the biggest and best amateur golf events in the UK – is poised to get underway again.
The Matchplay Championship consists of a Betterball and individual competitions and players will be competing for the chance to win a place in the Grand Final at the five star Vale do Lobo resort in the Algarve, Portugal.
The Matchplay Championship was launched in 1996 and last year over 5,000 golf club members, male and female, from approximately 1,500 clubs competed. Players play four rounds of knockout matchplay in their region between June and September and the winners from each region qualify for one of the eight regional finals in October.
Then, 44 players will earn the right to compete at the Grand Final at the stunning Vale do Lobo Golf & Beach resort in the Algarve next January. The finalists’ prize includes return flights, car hire, five nights luxury accommodation, five rounds of golf and the chance to be crowned National Champions.
