Warne delivers the goods in his own golf event

After a lengthy absence, legendary Australian Test cricketer Shane Warne (pictured) made a triumphant return to the golf course in his own Shane Warne Classic event at The Grove near Watford.
It was a shotgun start and Warne, playing his first round since December, went off the 1st tee alongside his Warney’s Warriors teammates, former England cricketers Michael Vaughan, Darren Gough and Sky Sports cricket commentator/presenter Ian Ward (pictured).
It was a victorious day all round for Warne who also came out on top in the Golf Ashes clash against former England batsman Kevin Pietersen whose team had to settle for third spot, also trailing the Elleven quartet featuring Sameer Patel, Manvir Patel, Martin Marston and Jatin Desai.
Controversially axed by England after a disastrous Ashes series Down Under, Pietersen’s
Super KP’s side also included Ian Harvey, Jeremy Snape, and Shaun Udal. Fourth were
888 Poker 3 (Paul Smith, Danny Webster, Michael Chaffe, Keith Jones).
Former fast bowler Gough also claimed the nearest-the-pin at the par-3 13th and the other nearest-the-pin winners were Jon Carey (4th) and Paul O’Connor (7th). The longest drive was achieved by James Webber.
The Shane Warne Classic was organised by leading golf tour operator Your Golf Travel and was a huge success, substantially boosting the coffers of the Shane Warne Foundation for seriously ill and under-privileged children.
