In just 80 days, golf fans around the globe have notched up 100,000 rounds, challenging the world’s best golfers, on The European Tour’s first-of-its-kind fan game, Your Race to Dubai.

Launched on May 18, 2015, during the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, Your Race to Dubai enables golfers to take on top tour professionals in match play every week via the live-scoring app, Golf GameBook.

The 100,000 rounds have been played by golfers from 25 countries at more than 4,000 different courses. The European Tour professionals have won approximately 60% of the challenges made against them, halving 9% and losing 31%.

To take part, golfers simply use the free iPhone app to select a European Tour professional to challenge and enter their scores from any 18-hole round, anywhere in the world. Each golfer can make up to four challenges every week and the match play results are based on hole-by-hole nett scores in relation to par.

The professionals’ scores in the European Tour events are updated automatically and instantly on the Golf GameBook app, so golfers watching tournament rounds know whether they are up or down in their match play – in real time, while following the event coverage on TV on online.

Tim Hunt, Marketing Communications Director of The European Tour, said: “This is the first time in history that a concept like this has been made available in any sport and we are thrilled to see so many golf fans across the globe take part in Your Race to Dubai.

“Fans have told us they feel part of the drama unfolding on the TV coverage as their Your Race to Dubai match is simultaneously updated live on their phone and we look forward to the continued success of this unique game.”

This week, golfers can challenge the following European Tour professionals playing the WGC – Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone CC, USA: Ian Poulter, Sergio Garcia, Henrik Stenson, Louis Oosthuizen, Mikko Ilonen and Joost Luiten.
