Want to play golf underground in central London?

Playing golf in central London can be tough. It usually means lugging your clubs to an Underground station, facing angry glares from fellow passengers, and three tubes and two overground trains later you’re at a decidedly average golf club, already dreading the journey home.

But it doesn’t have to be this way. From 11th November to 20th December, you can hone your putting skills just two minutes’ walk from Waterloo Underground station.

The ‘Birdies crazy golf club’ offers an underground, nine-hole putting course, featuring loops, half-pipes, hidden prizes and even an elevated five-foot drop on one hole.

You can celebrate your success or drown your sorrows with drinks as you play, including cocktails prepared by expert mixologists. You won’t go hungry, either, with food from some of London’s finest eateries, including Hix and Hawksmoor.

If you’re the kind of person who gets agitated over a putt if someone is rustling a KitKat wrapper four holes away, you’ll be in for a shock here: Birdies’ resident DJs will be pumping out music, making talking to your ball even more pointless than usual.

Birdies is open six nights a week from now until 20th December, at The Vaults, Launcelot Street, SE1 7AD, London. Tickets are £9 and should be booked in advance online.
