It’s Open season and this week the Golfing universe descends on the Royal Birkdale.
The Open — British Open or The Open Championship depending on who you are — begins on Thursday. The practice rounds have begun, the rules are being stretched, and Mickelson is making some interesting club choices.
Last year brought us an epic duel between Mickelson and Stenson, with the Swede grasping the win. Going into the Open this year there is a hugely competitive field and everyone has got something at stake.
McIlroy has a point to make to his doubters, Johnson can prove he has more than meteoric form and despite once saying he “wasn’t good enough to win a major” – is Sergio Garcia experiencing a career renaissance after winning his first major this year at The Masters?
