2020 Masters postponed

The Masters has been postponed because of the coronavirus outbreak.
The year’s first Major championship was scheduled to take part on April 9-12.
It is the latest victim on the golf calendar of coronavirus – the European Tour has cancelled numerous events, while the PGA Tour cancelled the Players Championship on Thursday and every other event until April.
“Ultimately, the health and well-being of everyone associated with these events and the citizens of the Augusta community led us to this decision,” said Fred Ridley, chairman of Augusta National Golf Club, in a statement.
“We hope this postponement puts us in the best position to safely host the Masters Tournament and our amateur events at some later date.”
It is uncertain when the event will be played and whether the Augusta National Women’s Amateur and Drive, Chip & Putt events will also be part of the rescheduling. All have been postponed.
The Masters, which dates to 1934, has never been played outside of March or April. For years, it has been held on the second Sunday of April.
Tiger Woods won his fifth tournament at Augusta National last April.
