More money than ever was handed out at the 2022 Masters with the prize fund increasing by a whopping $3.5m to $15m.

Scottie Scheffler won the Masters by three shots.

Scottie Scheffler picked up a cool $2.7m for his three-shot maiden Major victory, $630,000 more than Hideki Matsuyama, Dustin Johnson and Tiger Woods won in 2021, 2020 and 2019 respectively. with four victories to his name already this season, World No.1 Scheffler has now won more than $10m in just 13 starts. To put that into context, Jon Rahm topped 2021’s money stats with $7.7m across the entire season.

The Masters now offers the second-largest prize fund in golf but still has some way to go to match the $20m up for grabs at The Players Championship, where 2022 winner Cameron Smith received $3.6m.

But how does the Masters purse compare with the other men’s Majors? The PGA Championship victor receives $1.98m from an $11m purse, with the US Open champ getting $2.25m from a $12.5m purse, and The Open Championship paying the winner $1.935m from its $10.75 million prize fund.
