Who is playing in the 2023 US Open golf tournament at The LA Country Club in Los Angeles?
Today’s Golfer’s 2023 Major coverage is brought to you in association with TaylorMade.
The field is set for the third and penultimate men’s golf major of 2023, as the world’s best battle it out to win the US Open at the Los Angeles Country Club.
A total of 15 LIV players are in the field, including this year’s PGA champion and two-time US Open winner Brooks Koepka, as well as past US Open champions Bryson DeChambeau, Dustin Johnson, and Martin Kaymer.
The defending champion is Matt Fitzpatrick, with the Brit hoping to repeat his heroics at Brookline last year.
A total of 10 past champions are in the field, dating back to Rory McIlroy’s win in 2011 at Congressional.
There are 18 amateurs in the field, including reigning U.S. Amateur champion Sam Bennett.
Is Tiger Woods playing in the US Open?
Despite being qualified and eligible to play, 15-time Major champion Tiger Woods will miss the US Open, a tournament he has won three times, due to ongoing injury problems.
Woods underwent subtalar fusion surgery in April to address post-traumatic arthritis from a previous fracture in the lower ankle joint. The recovery time can be several months, even up to a year, making it unlikely we will see Woods in competitive action again in 2023.
