Paul Lawrie fires albatross on way to 68

The Open Championship In Association With Nikon

Paul Lawrie holed a 4-iron from 213 yards for a spectacular alabtross on Turnberry’s par 5 7th.

It is the first albatross the 1999 Open champion has ever recorded on a par 5.

“First time! I’ve never holed it before at a par 5. I had 213 to the pin, a little off the left. I just hit a nice 4-iron, a three quarter 4-iron and I saw it go in too which was nice.”

Lawrie was also one of very few players to birdie the 18th today and finished with a 68 for a +8 total and a tie for 47th.
