Henrik Stenson believes he is better prepared for this year’s Open Championship than ever before.
The super-cool Swede revealed that he had been in the region for considerably longer than his usual pre-championship routine.
“I’ve been here since Thursday night last week so I’ve had plenty of time to prepare, play the course three or four rounds in total so that’s probably as much as I’ve ever done leading into a championship. I’ve got a good look at the course,” he said.
And the 33-year-old also revealed that he felt fairway woods were going to play a big part in his quest for a maiden Major this week.
“It’s going to be a lot of 3-woods for me and on some occasions it might even be a 5-wood and so on in finding position on a few holes.”
Stenson starts his title challenge at 0747 on Thursday along with American Steve Stricker and China’s Wen-chong Liang.
