Masters raises $3.4 million for charity

The 2009 Masters Tournament has raised more than $3.4 million for charity.

Just weeks after presenting the Green Jacket to Angel Cabrera, Billy Payne, Chairman of Augusta National Golf Club, announced the news.

“It has always been, and will continue to be, a priority of Augusta National and the Masters to give back to the game and the local Augusta community,” Payne said.

“In these difficult times, this obligation is more important than ever as we strive to positively affect the lives of people around the world.”

The Masters has now contributed more than $39 million to local charities and the game of golf over the last 12 years.
