Yang clinches first PGA Tour title

South Korea’s YE Yang survived a back nine wobble to win the Honda Classic by a shot from John Rollins.

The 37-year-old had a four shot cushion stood on the 13th tee but bogeys at 15 and 17 set up a nervous final hole.

Rollins birdied 18 but Yang secured the regulation par he needed for victory with two putts from 50 feet.

The win has lifted him to 146 in the world rankings and secures his place at this week’s CA Championship and the Masters in April.

Elsewhere, there was another Korean win as Jiyai Shin claimed victory in the season-opening HSBC Women’s Champions event in Singapore.

Starting the final day six shots back, a supern 66 was enough to see the 20-year-old surge through the field to clinch the win on -11.

Remarkably, it is the 26th professional victory of the youngster’s career.
