Fantasy League preview: SBS Championship

The first points-scoring event of the TG Fantasy League is the opening event of the 2010 PGA Tour season, the SBS Championship at Kapalua in Hawaii.

Geoff Ogilvy will defend his title as a talented field lines up hoping to make a fast start to this Ryder Cup season.

Only 28 golfers will be teeing it up but with 10 of the world’s top 25 teeing up it will be tough to pick a winner.

Here are TG’s six picks for this week’s event:

Retief Goosen ($2.8m)
Goose has kept his game in shape over the winter by playing in his native South Africa and hasn’t finished outside the top 16 in six starts.

Zach Johnson ($2.4m)
The former Masters winner usually makes a fast start to the season and he won the Sony Open in Hawaii in 2009.

Ryan Moore ($1.5m)
The 27-year-old won his first professional title last season and finished T7-T8-3 to end the year 51st in the world rankings.

Steve Stricker ($4.5m)
The world number three is the highest ranked player in the field and will be looking to build on his three PGA Tour wins last season and push Phil and Tiger.

Nick Watney ($1.8m)
The big-hitting American had his best year last season and will want to build on that to force his way into Corey Pavin’s Ryder Cup team.

YE Yang ($2m)
Asia first major champion sprung to prominence by defeating Tiger Woods at last year’s USPGA Championship and showed it was more than a fluke with a strong finish to 2009.
