Lefty is red-hot Masters favourite

Phil Mickelson is now a red-hot favourite to win this week’s US Masters after clinching the Shell Houston Open yesterday.
‘Lefty’ is now the 7/1 favourite with Ladbrokes to make a successful defence of his title at Augusta National.
Fallen idol Tiger Woods currently trades at 11/1 with Lee Westwood the shortest priced European at 16/1.
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “We’re used to seeing Woods head up this market but many punters will look to oppose him with Mickelson, Kaymer & Westwood the most popular choices so far.”
Lefty, who fired 63 on Saturday, suffered two bogeys in the opening three holes but a run of six birdies in eight holes around the turn saw him come home in 31.
Kirk signed for a 67 to earn his first top-two finish on the US PGA Tour and Verplank carded 68.
Mickelson confirmed: “I’m just trying to get my game ready and it’s not about just the physical ball-striking and short game and putting.
“I’ve got to maintain my focus and that certainly appl;ies to Augusta, potentially a very penalising golf course.”
