Masters 2011 just hours away

After weeks and months of build up, the first Major of the season is finally upon us.

The 2011 Masters promises to be a fantastic tournament. It has never been so open and with so many questions to be answered and issues to be decided this week, there will be stories unfolding wherever you look.

Phil Mickelson is the favourite and it’s hard to look past him coming off the back of a win in Houston and with his Masters record. But how will he handle the pressure of knowing that a top-two finish will move him to world number one for the first time?

A host of Europeans will be in contention and hoping to bring a Green Jacket back to this side of the Atlantic for the first time since Jose Maria Olazabal’s victory in 1999.

Tiger Woods says “everything” in his game is ready to win this week, but the fact he was still on the range with coach Sean Foley and a video camera at 6pm on Wednesday suggests otherwise.

The weather forecast is predicting clear blue skies and highs of 24 degrees centigrade, and the wind is also forecast to drop. The course will not be at dry as it often is so scoring should be low.

Europeans to look out for early include Ross Fisher in the opening group at 12:45 BST, Martin Laird at 14:13, Rory McIlroy at 14:24 and Lee Westwood and Martin Kaymer at 15:19.
