Willett signs for Callaway

Callaway has announced that Danny Willett, a former world number one amateur, has put pen to paper and joined its team of Staff Professionals on the European Tour.

After just two full seasons on the European Tour, Willett has consistently climbed the Official World Golf Rankings, featuring as high as 63. He enjoyed a fantastic 2010 season – finishing 23rd on the European Tour Race to Dubai list – with highlights including a runner-up finish at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and a third place in the Austrian Golf Open.

Willett, 23, a former Walker Cup player, enjoyed an incredible amateur career that included wins at the English Amateur Championship and the Yorkshire Amateur Championship in 2007. He easily passed through European Tour Qualifying School in 2009 and posted eight top-10s during his rookie season.

The Sheffield-based professional will play a full complement of Callaway equipment, including Razr Hawk Tour driver, Diablo Octane fairway wood, RAZR Tour hybrid, X Forged Irons, X Forged vintage wedges and the Tour i(z) ball. He will also be wearing Callaway apparel.

“I’ve been on Tour for two years now and during that time it has been easy to see the progress players have made with Callaway equipment and the support they have been given by Callaway’s expert team on Tour,” said Willett.
