clarke hits back

Darren Clarke claims his Open-winning celebrations won’t effect his performance at this week’s Irish Open.

The 42-year-old admitted to staying up all night on the Sunday after his epic triumph at Royal St George’s and said those who were criticising him should ‘get a life’.

Clarke is part of a solid field for the European Tour event at Killarney Golf club and he is joined by fellow Northern Irish Major winners Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell.

Rory has started his opening round already and is currently three under after 14 holes.

Clarke does not tee off until 12.15pm but is keen to get out on the course. He said: “I don’t think it’s going to make any diofference to my desire (winning The Open), but I am more relaxed.”

Following a round last Friday where he got beaten by some friends, Clarke got some more advice from mind coaches Bob Rotella and Mike Finnegan.
