Donald wins Scottish Open

Luke Donald sent out a warning to his Open rivals with a dominant victory at The Scottish Open.

The English star showed why he is world number one with a stirring final-round 63 to win by four shots.

The event had been cut to three rounds after terrible weather had seen play suspended many times since Friday.

The win was Donald’s third of the year and his sixth European Tour title. He also scooped the £500,000 prize money.

He has also claimed the World Golf Championships – Accenture Match Play Championship and the BMW PGA Championship in 2011.

There were many others swarming just behind Donald, but none could match the Englishman’s stunning scoring and it ended up being a battle for the lower placings.

World number two Lee Westwood had held the lead after the opening round, but ended up seven shots back.

The scene is now set for Royal St George’s in Kent on Thursday.
