weather forecast

Sunny conditions failed to prompt the type of scoring expected on the second day of The Open at Royal St George’s.

The wind was not as bad as yesterday and yet the scores were surprisingly subdued.

With some big names teetering on the cut line many will be cursing missed chances as the weather forecast for tomorrow is about as appealing as Rupert Murdoch’s diary!

Winds of over 20mph are predicted and heavy rain is also forecast from 7am until about 4pm. This may slightly favour the later starters but with the last tee time set for about 2pm, no-one is likely to totally expected to escape the inclement conditions.

With the leading score currently at four under, the 2003 winning total of one under at Royal St George’s could be about the level this time around.

Heavy rain is also forecast for much of Sunday, when the final round of The Open will be played. The wind may calm a little but conditions are still going to be extremely testing.
