rory takes a break

US Open champion Rory McIlroy is taking a break and won’t play competitive golf again until The Open in July.

The 22-year-old’s feet have hardly touched the ground since he lifted the trophy in America on Sunday night and he has decided a break should keep him fresh for The Open at Royal St George’s, which starts on July 14.

He was due to play in The French Open next week, but has withdrawn. After celebrating on Sunday night in America, Rory flew to a corporate day in Cape Cod and then filmed a game show with Ant and Dec on Tuesday. He arrived back in Ireland on Wednesday and has sponsor duties on Thursday.

His home town of Holywood in Northern Ireland is awaiting his homecoming and a parade is being planned.

There are also expected to be celebrations at his local golf courses.

He is also plans a trip to Wimbledon next week to watch his friend Rafael Nadal in action.

You can pick the fresh and rested McIlroy in your TG Fantasy Golf team. It’s FREE to play and scoring starts at The Open at Royal St George’s. Sign up now and you could win some stunning prizes.
