Welsh Open update

Colin Montgomerie is rock bottom of the field at the Welsh Open just a week after he finished seventh at the BMW champiohsip at Wentworth – his highest finish in two years.

But MOnty failed to find any form as he slumped to a second-round 79 and total tournamanet core of 15 over.

At the other end of the leaderboard, Swede Alex Noren was delighted with his second 67 of the event to lead by two clear shots. English veteran Barry Lane rolled back the years to shoot a 69. He is just three shots off the lead with two rounds still to play.

World number five Graeme McDowell is trying to get back to winning ways and is currently level par for his second round and four under fopr the tournament. But he has only just finished the front nine and will be looking to put pressure on the front runners around The Celtic Manor Resort.

McDowell famously holed the winning putt in the Ryder Cup in a thrilling climax at Celtic Manor last October.
