Tiger Gets In Some Early Practice

This week’s US PGA Championship marks somewhat of an uncommon course debut for one Tiger Woods. The American has never played the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island in competition before, and so he felt the need to sneak out before 6am on Monday to avoid the galleries and get in some much needed practice.

Woods said: “It was nice to go to Kiawah a few days earlier before I went to Akron (for the WGC Bridgestone), so that I don’t have to do any charting this week and all I have to do is to go out there and play.”

“I am always just trying to keep building toward the majors and hopefully the game will peak at that right time. I have come close a couple of times this year. I had the lead at the US Open for a couple of days. In the Open I was right there, so it’s about having everything come together at the right time.

“I need to get that timing right – and I’ve done it a few times over my career – hopefully this week will be another one of those times.”

The world number two is in good form after an eighth place finish last week helped by a closing round 66, alongside his third place finish at The Open last month.
