Fantasy Golf: BMW Masters preview

The Today’s Golfer Fantasy Golf game, in association with Your Golf Travel, continues on the European Tour this week with the BMW Masters in Shanghai, China.
The $7 million prize fund has attracted a world class field that includes 11 of Europe’s victorious Ryder Cup team.
The Jack Nicklaus-designed Lake Malaren opened in October 2010. At 7,607 yards, it’s a long track so power hitting is a definite bonus, although there are plenty of water hazards and large bunkers waiting to catch wayward shots.
The greens should run at about 11 on the stimpmeter and there are plenty of pin placement options on the gently contoured surfaces.
Here is TG’s six-man team for the BMW Masters:
Rory McIlroy, $5.0m
The world number one and Race to Dubai leader has won three of his last five events, including the USPGA Championship and hasn’t finished worse than 6th in his last eight European Tour events in Asia.
Justin Rose, $2.8m
The Race to Dubai number two will be keen to better McIlroy at this lucrative event. His confidence is flowing following his stunning Ryder Cup display and a win at the Turkish Airlines World Golf Final.
Louis Oosthuizen, $2.6m
The South African enjoyed an impressive end to the PGA Tour season, eventually finishing 7th in the FedEx Cup. He finished T4 in the Nanshan China Masters last week.
Peter Hanson, $2.0m
He only featured in two Ryder Cup sessions but he was in very good form heading into Medinah and comes into this week off the back of a T8 at the Hero Indian Open.
Nicolas Colsaerts, $1.4m
The Belgian’s big hitting should be a perfect fit for Lake Malaren. He has three top 10s in his last five starts and won the Volvo China Open last year.
Richie Ramsay, $1.2m
A fine run of form has taken the Scot to 52 in the world. His last five starts read T6-1-T2-MC-2.
