Justin Rose Claims £935,000 Final Win In Turkey

Justin Rose has managed to hold off fellow Englishman Lee Westwood and claim the massive £935,000 winner’s cheque at the Turkish Airlines World Golf Final.

The duo went head-to-head in Friday’s final, after emerging from their four-man groups and winning their respective semi-finals on Thursday.

Westwood, who carded a three-under 67 in the final to miss out by a shot, still walked away with £623,000.

Coming off the back off a monumental performance against Phil Mickelson in the Sunday singles at the Ryder Cup, Rose continued his exceptional form at Antalya Golf Club by going unbeaten in all five of his matches.

He won Group B with victories over Hunter Mahan, Westwood and Webb Simpson, and then fought back superbly to edge Tiger Woods in his semi-final, by playing the final six holes in four-under-par.

In a final that contained no bogeys, Rose held a narrow one-shot lead at the turn, before a birdie at the par-4 10th doubled his advantage.

Westwood, who fired a sensational round of 10-under in his semi-final with Charl Schwartzel, put some pressure on his opponent with a birdie at the par-5 16th, but Rose regained his advantage with a birdie of his own at 17.

A fighting birdie from Westwood at 18 set-up a nail-biting finish that left Rose with a two-foot putt worth £312,000.

Earlier in the week, Rory McIlroy lost all three of his group matches, including a heavy six-shot defeat to Woods.
