Fantasy Golf: Deutsche Bank preview

Last week’s event, The Barclays, had one of the most exciting finishes of the season, and round two of the FedEx Cup Playoffs could offer just as much drama.

The Deutsche Bank Championship is played over the TPC Boston course, where all of the final four holes are inside the top-seven easiest on the course.

This helped Webb Simpson card a field-low 65 in his final round to leapfrog to the win in 2011, and this year’s edition could be just as exciting.

The 7,216-yard, par 71 was ranked as the fourth-easiest of all par 71s on Tour in 2012, and will suit those hot with the putter and confident to shoot at flags.

Here is TG’s six-man team for The Barclays:

Adam Scott, £3.8m
The Aussie comes off a surprise victory at The Barclays where he played his last 24 holes in bogey-free 8-under-par. Since his win in the inaugural edition in 2003, Scott has added four top 10s and sits third in all-time earnings.

Phil Mickelson, £3.8m
Mickelson opened his playoffs with a T6 at Liberty National where he placed T4 in greens hit and sixth in strokes gained-putting. He also holed seven birdies in a closing 65 and has good course form with a win at TPC Boston in 2007 and a T10 in 2011 and T4 in 2012.

Jim Furyk, £2.2m
A T6 at The Barclays extended his streak of four top 10s in a row. He ranked T4 last week in greens hit and led the field in strokes gained-putting, plus he hasn’t missed a cut in eight trips to TPC Boston; with five top 15s.

Zach Johnson, £2.2m
Johnson returns to action following planned time off for his brother’s wedding. He has finished no worse than a T8 in his last five starts.

Jordan Spieth, £2.0m
The youngster kept the pedal down at The Barclays en route to a T19, ranking third in total driving and T1 in proximity to the hole.

Rory Sabbatini, £1.0m
The South African arrives with five consecutive top 20s, including a T13 at The Barclays. He was also ranked T4 at Liberty National in GIR, 10th in proximity to the hole and ninth in scrambling.
