Fantasy Golf: RBC Canadian Open preview

There’s no let up after a thrilling Open Championship as the Today’s Golfer Fantasy Golf game continues with the RBC Canadian Open on the PGA Tour.

The tournament returns to Glen Abbey GC, in Oakville, Ontario, for the 26th time. The 7,253-yard par 72 layout last hosted in 2008-2009.

The course is a classic tree-lined design with plenty of elevation change and relatively small greens. Accuracy will be important but the course usually averages under par and rewards aggressive play.

Here is TG’s six-man team for the RBC Canadian Open:

Brandt Snedeker, £4.0m
The world number seven has recorded three straight top 20s, including a T11 at Muirfield. He finished T5 at Glen Abbey in 2009 and is third on the PGA Tour for birdie average.

Matt Kuchar, £3.6m
He co-leads the PGA Tour with 20 consecutive cuts made and has already won twice this season. He’s currently sixth in adjusted scoring, T14 in par-4 scoring and T3 in par-5 scoring.

Graeme McDowell, £3.0m
It’s been a strange couple of months for G-Mac as his last nine starts include three wins and five missed cuts. He’s 10th in driving accuracy and the tree-lines fairways should suit him.

Hunter Mahan, £2.6m
He’s made the cut in all eight of his Canadian Open appearances, including a T4 in his last appearance at Glen Abbey in 2004. Top 10s in two of his last four starts (US Open and Open Championship) and he ranks T8 in total driving.

Graham DeLaet, £1.0m
The Canadian is in the form of his life with a streak of nine consecutive cuts made, including five top 25s. He leads the PGA Tour in greens in regulation.

Daniel Summerhays, £0.6m
The 29-year-old has come alive in recent weeks with T9, T4 and play-off loss in his last three starts. Ignoring the play-off hole, he’s 46-under-par for his last 12 rounds.
