European Tour players David Horsey and Scott Drummond will be among the field in The Astbury Hall Classic this week as the 888poker.com PGA EuroPro Tour arrives in Shropshire.

The tour is making its debut at Astbury Hall in Bridgnorth, a top-class championship course designed by Judas Priest lead guitarist KK Downing. The 54-hole event begins on Wednesday, May 15th and concludes on Friday the 17th.

888poker.com PGA EuroPro Tour Director of Operations Daniel Godding said: “Astbury Hall is a tough, fantastically designed and well laid out golf course. I see it as part of the future of the 888poker.com PGA EuroPro Tour. We are striving to improve every aspect of the tour and bringing it to golf courses such as Astbury Hall is integral to that.

“I am very much looking forward to the tournament. We have already had excellent feedback from our golfers, who have been impressed with the course and the condition it is being presented to them in. The spectacular par-three 18th will make an excellent finishing hole in front of the clubhouse.

“The tournament will be filmed for a highlights programme on Sky Sports and hopefully as many local people as possible will come down and get the chance to see the future stars of European golf in action.”

The 54-hole strokeplay event see all golfers playing 18 holes on both Wednesday and Thursday before a cut to the top 50 players plus ties is made ahead of a final 18 holes on Friday. Spectator entry to the event is free throughout.

A two-hour highlights package of The Astbury Hall Classic will be broadcast on Sky Sports on Wednesday, May 29th and live scoring will be available at www.europrotour.com.
