Fantasy Golf: HP Byron Nelson Championship preview

After Martin Kaymer’s weather-delayed victory at The Players Championship, Fantasy Golf heads to TPC Four Seasons-Las Colinas, Dallas, for the HP Byron Nelson Championship.

It’s a 7,166-yard par-70 course with only two par-5s, so the players will have to work hard for their birdies. It has some of the hardest to hit fairways on the circuit, and putting is usually the deciding factor. Defending champion Sang-moon Bae was second in strokes gained-putting and average distance of putts made. He holed 12 putts from outside 10’, a joint high for the week.

With that in mind, here’s Team TG for the HP Byron Nelson Championship:

Keegan Bradley, £2.6m
Despite only have played here three times, Bradley is second in all-time earnings at the event. He won in 2011 and shot a course-record 60 on his way to a second-place finish last year.

Jordan Spieth, £3m
The 20-year-old is showing unbelievable form, although he’s yet to pick up a win in 2014. This is his fourth appearance at what is his hometown event, and the conditions should suit him well.

Martin Kaymer, £2.4m
Looked imperious on his way to victory at The Players Championship, and finished tied fifth in his debut at this event last year.

Jimmy Walker, £2.4m
Finished tied sixth at The Players Championship after a 65 on the final day. He leads the PGA Tour in strokes gained-putting, a key statistic here in recent years.

Marc Leishman, £1.4m
One of the best players on tour when it comes to playing in the wind. The forecast is looking pretty blustery, which will suit him well. Has finished in the top 15 four times here, and was just outside the points last week with a T23 finish.

Matt Kuchar, £3m
His T17 at Sawgrass was his first finish outside the top five in his last five starts. He is rarely far from the first page of the leaderboard here, with two top 15s to his name.
