Thorbjørn Olesen wins the ISPS Handa Perth International

Thorbjørn Olesen secured his first win of 2014 at the ISPS Handa Perth International.

It was the Dane’s first win since the 2012 Sicilian Open.

Olesen headed into the final day of the Australian competition three shots clear after previous rounds of 64, 69 and 67. He scored 71 on the final day.

A run from the 13th to 15th holes showcased his credentials, with two birdies and an impressive par save helping to retain his lead.

It was also a first victory for Nike’s new Vapor Pro irons, which Olesen relied on throughout the competition.

He was using Nike’s RZN Black golf balls, helping him to pick up 22 birdies throughout the tournament.

“The feel of the ball is outstanding, especially around the greens where I’m able to spin it a little more,” said Olesen who chipped in from off the green at the par-five third hole on Saturday.

The Vapor Pro irons were developed at Nike’s R&D headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas, with direct input from Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.
