Rory McIlroy on Protracer is a thing of beauty

We’re a bit upset that The Open won’t be on BBC anymore. We could cogitate on the pros and cons of that for hours, but one thing is for sure: we will very much enjoy Sky’s generous use of Protracer when the 2016 Open at Royal Troon comes around.

We bloody love Protracer. We don’t know what it is, but there’s something about that simple coloured line that makes watching golf so much more enjoyable.

That’s especially true when the pro being traced (see what we did there?) is none other than Rory McIlroy.

This collection of Rory’s drives, captured during his victory at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, is evidence, as if any were needed, that Rory really knows how to smoke a driver.

A Rory McIlroy drive tracked on Protracer would win the Turner Prize, if we had anything to do with it. We’d certainly prefer to watch two minutes and twenty-five seconds of this than a half-built house or some chairs with coats on.

Can you imagine how good it would be to have Protracer tracking the shots of you and all your mates? That kinking blue line that disappears into a bush 40 yards off the fairway? Yep, that’s yours.
