The public have spoken… Rory McIlroy is going to win The Masters

With just over a month until The Masters, we’re already getting excited about watching the action from Augusta National. Will Bubba Watson overpower the par 5s with driver-wedge? Will Spieth defend his crown and set up another shot at a grand slam? Will Rory McIlroy finally get the Augusta monkey off his back to pick up a green jacket and complete a career grand slam? Will Tiger Woods be there playing, or watching it at home on television? There are some big questions to be answered, so we thought we’d start with the biggest: who is going to win the 2016 Masters?

We took the four favourites – Rory McIlroy (8/1), Jordan Spieth (8/1), Jason Day (10/1) and Bubba Watson (15/1) – and ran a poll on Twitter to see who people were backing to triump this April.

The results…

Rory McIlroy – 42%

Bubba Watson – 24%

Jason Day – 18%

Jordan Spieth – 16%

So there you have it, 42% of you are backing Rory McIlroy to improve on his fourth-place finish from last year and win the Masters for the first time in his career. Interesting that last year’s winner, Jordan Spieth, was the least popular choice among the four favourites. He missed the cut in his last tournament – the Northern Trust Open – but already has a win and three other top-5s under his belt this year, and won The Masters by four shots in 2015.

Do you agree? Who do you think will win The Masters this year?
