Youngsters are absolutely dominating the LPGA Tour this season

Lexi Thompson and Lydia Ko have both been winners this season

Alan Hansen famously said “you can’t win anything with kids,” right before Manchester United went and won the double with – you guessed it – a team of kids. 

But experience tends to count in professional golf, where players tend to peak and win most between the ages of 30 and 35. 

It’s a different story on the LPGA Tour this season, however. 

All 13 LPGA Tour tournaments so far this season have been won by players aged 23 or younger. The average age of LPGA Tour winners this season is 21 and one month. 

The oldest PGA Tour winner so far this season is Vaughn Taylor, who was a few months short of 40 when he won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February.

So it’s good news if you’re a youngster hoping to win tournaments, but not good news for Alan Hansen.
