Jessica Korda rules herself out of Solheim Cup with injury

Jessica Korda has ruled herself out of next week’s Solheim Cup due to an ongoing forearm injury that forced her to withdraw from the Ricoh Women’s British Open last week.
Korda, who had gained automatic qualification in to the United States team that is heading to Des Moines, took to social media to share the news of her disappointment.
“Sadly the injury to my forearm is not going to heel in time for the Solheim Cup,” Korda wrote.
“Having been forced to withdraw from the British Open was personally difficult but this being a team event representing the USA – I cannot put the team at risk of me not being 100% so unfortunately I have had to make the difficult decision of relinquishing my spot on the team.”
“That being said I will certainly work hard to get back in top shape to be able to o compete again soon and simultaneously will become another fan cheering our team on TV.”
U.S Captain Juli Inkster named Angel Yin and Austin Ernst as her two wildcard picks on Sunday evening at Kingsbarns Golf Links, but while she apparently picked an alternate – we are currently unaware of who will be replacing Korda in the team.
Experienced six-time Solheim Cup player Paula Creamer missed out on wildcard selection and will likely be in the frame, but equally so could others who missed out such as Angela Stanford, Morgan Pressel.
