Louis Oosthuizen forced to WD after freak airport injury

Louis Oosthuizen was forced to withdraw from his home event Joburg Open after sustaining an injury at the airport that ruled him out of the tournament.

The World No.23 was flying back from his T-7 at last week’s AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open when he got his fingers stuck between two airport trolleys.

Oosthuizen said he had hoped he would feel better by the time the event started, but that he still feels unable to compete and therefore has been forced to withdraw.

“The body feels great but I had a different incident this week with jamming my fingers in trolleys at the airport,” Oosthuizen said at his Wednesday press conference.

“This morning is even worse than it was yesterday, so I tried to grip a golf club but there’s no way I can go to my grip position.”

The Sunshine Tour, which co-sanctions the Joburg Open with the European Tour and Asian Tour,  took to twitter to announce Oosthuizen’s WD, and also included an image of his fingers. Click here to look
