The Punch Shot

The power of the punch... Lee Scarbrow shows how an everyday bottle perched on top of a golf club shaft can help train you to play those handy knock-down shots on a blustery day.

This simple game teaches you to use your instincts to change the swing path and alter your angle of attack into the golf ball. You don't need to think about technique at all. Just give it a try!

When the wind is very high what you need is a strong, punch-like shot to get the ball through the air whilst keeping it fairly low to the ground. This exercise will show you exactly how to practice this.

Set up a bottle on top of a club so that you have something to aim for and try and hit it off. You probably won't hit it off straight away which is why it's important to aim up again and keep trying.

This simple exercise will keep you hitting low.
