Maximum distance with minimal effort on iron shots

The most common swing fault among the iron shots of amateurs is the attempt to ‘lift’ the ball in the air by adding loft to the golf club at impact.

A simple drill to rectify this is to feel that the hands win the race to the ball line ahead of the clubhead, as TG Elite Pro Tom Denby explains in this golf video tip. This helps you hit down on the ball with shaft lean towards the target, creating a crisp strike.
