Connect the chest and shoulder to hole putts

A common cause of missed putts from short range is a disconnection between the chest and left shoulder. This separation is what causes the clubface to rotate excessively through impact, leading to putts that miss both left and right.

A good drill to feel whether this fault occurs during your swing is to place your right hand on the point of contact between the two. That way, you can ensure the connection is in place for the duration, as TG Elite Pro Chris Ryan explains in this golf video tip.
