The best bunker drill

Published:

The key to consistently good bunker play is the ability to take the right amount of sand consistently, by entering the sand in the same place with the same angle of attack.

A good drill both Graeme McDowell and I use in sand to improve my consistency is to draw a box or circle around the ball about 3-4 inches wide. My goal is then to remove the sand from that box andsplash it on the green.

The key to controlling the distance the ball goes is to control the amount of sand you take, this drill does that perfectly. This also helps contact the sand in the same place and it’s easy to set up in practice.
