New Srixon Z-Star balls

Srixon’s new Z-STAR balls share game-changing technology

Srixon launches the new Z-STAR and Z-STAR XV golf balls this month with a new revolutionary ‘Spin Skin’ technology.

Having amassed over 70 wins worldwide in the last two years with its current Z-STAR range, Srixon has also long been the No.1 two-piece ball brand in the UK market with the AD333 being consistently the best-selling individual two-piece ball.

The Z-STAR and Z-STAR XV are Srixon’s premium ball offerings, coming in both a three-piece and four-piece composition respectively. Available in Pure White and Tour Yellow, the new Z-STAR and Z-STAR XV offer increased visibility for improved performance out on the golf course.

Played by some of the games biggest stars such as Graeme McDowell, Keegan Bradley and Miguel Angel Jimenez, the three-piece Z-STAR and four-piece Z-STAR XV balls are targeted at lower handicap golfers.

Both are evolutionary advanced balls that have been designed to meet the needs and standards of Tour professionals around the world. The characteristics that separate them are greater spin control on approach shots with the Z-STAR, while the Z-STAR XV offers more length with your driver off the tee. Both are available now with an RRP of £48 per dozen.

The Z-Star’s Key Three Benefits

1 Srixon’s new ‘Spin Skin’ is a High Grip Spin Coating that delivers sharp spin performance as well as a soft feel, with the ball getting extra grip on the clubface on approach shots. This has been developed in part by Srixon’s technicians controlling the molecular structure of the paint that is applied to the ball. A 20% increase in friction between the ball and the club face at impact is the result of this, giving you greater control where you need it most thanks to the ‘Spin Skin’. Both models feature Srixon’s 0.5mm ultra thin super-soft new urethane cover. This produces an incredibly soft feel from the club face without compromising distance or durability.

2 A marked area of improvement in this year’s range is the ball’s performance in the wind. The new 344-dimple pattern added to the balls in 2013 reduces air resistance in flight and maintains ball speed to produce longer shots. This dimple pattern also helps to give the Z-STAR and Z-STAR XV a trajectory that stays strong and unaffected by the wind, giving you freedom to be aggressive with all types of shots in the wind. Keegan Bradley, who used a prototype to win last year’s WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, has noted the new Z-STAR’s performance in the wind as the key improvement.

3 Another feature that aids performance in the new Z-STAR is the Neo Energetic Gradient Growth core. This helps players generate a high launch angle with a reduced spin rate to produce longer distances. The Z-STAR XV is powered by a specially enhanced Neo Energetic Gradient Growth dual core, which provides the same characteristics as the core of the Z-STAR. As a result, the difference between the harder “outside” and softer “inside” has increased, meaning a lower spin rate on longer shots.
