Stephen Ames holed a three-foot birdie putt on Sunday that was worth $270,000.

That helped him win the PGA Tour’s Skins game, with a total pot of $590,000.

“I forgot about the golf swing and just started playing golf,” Ames said. “I made some nice putts and hit some good shots where I made some skins early on.”

Five-times Skins champion Fred Couples finished second in California with $385,000.

John Daly won a $25,000 skin, but ruined his chance of the $270,000 when he drove into a fairway bunker on the third playoff hole.
