Apr8 Johnson ins

Zach Johnson has won the 2007 Masters after an unbelievable final round at Augusta National.

The lead changed hands several times over the course of the afternoon, but no-one seemed to hang on to it for long.

The turning point came at the ninth, when Johnson chipped in for eagle from just off the par-5 green, to get within a shot of the lead.

As his rivals tried to make up ground, including Tiger Woods and Retief Goosen, Johnson then birdied 13 and 14 to take a lead which he didn’t give up.

He topped his round off with a brilliant up and down at the 18th, to go into the clubhouse at one-under.

After Justin Rose doubled the 17th, only Woods could stop Johnson – but he parred his last two holes to finish T2 at three over, alonside Goosen and South African Rory Sabbatini.

As he slipped his arms into the Green Jacket, presented by last year’s winner Phil Mickelson, Johnson said: “This feels surreal. I’ve dreamt about this moment for a long time.”

More to follow, including Johnson’s post-round press conference.
