South African Ernie Els has withdrawn from this week’s Deutsche Bank Championship due to family commitments.
The easy-swinging world number four, who now lives at Wentworth, says he wants to be with his children as they prepare to return to school.
He said: “I have been on the road now for almost eight weeks and it is important that I return home where my children will be preparing for their return to school.
“I regret having to miss such a prestigious and important tournament and I wish everybody there an enjoyable and successful week.”
The event, held just outside Boston, is the second tournament of the PGA’s money-spinning FedEx play-off series.
