Phil Mickelson, one of the favourites at Carnoustie this week, shrugged aside his Scottish Open disappointment last weekend and is determined to make amends at The Open.

‘Lefty’ was obviously disappointed about missing out in a play-off to Frenchman Gregory Havret at Loch Lomond, but prefers to reflect on the positive rather than the negative side of his week by the Bonnie Banks.

In his press conference at Carnoustie earlier today, he admitted he’s often struggled to find his best form on links courses but feels he’s gradually getting used to what for him was a completely different ball game. He also revealed how he worked on his magical short game, including his famous flop shot, in his backyward when he was growing up and learning the game…
