KJ Choi is relishing the weekend at the Open Championship, after shooting a sublime two-under par second round at Carnoustie to move within two of leader Sergio Garcia.

The 37-year-old, who is handily placed on four-under, is looking like partnering  Garcia in the final group on Saturday but insists he will not be fazed by the pressure.

“I’ve played with Sergio a few times, but I don’t think it’s a matter of who I play with, it’s just a case of getting some good rest now and thinking about what I have to do tomorrow.”

After enduring the rain and the wind on Thursday, the Korean played the course in much sunnier conditions on Friday, but is unconcerned by what the weekend will bring weather-wise.

“My caddy always tells me that you never know what you’re going to get with the Scottish weather, so he advises me to prepare myself for any conditions that may come. Whatever the weather, I’ll be prepared.”

Choi, who bogeyed the 18th as he did on Thursday, revealed that the 499-yard par four was playing more like a par five due the strong head wind.

“The 18th was playing difficult, there was a lot of wind. I just think you have to play that hole as a par five and if you get a bogey, just consider it a par.”
